  33.  - Users of the MTA-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:

  35.  - The  MTA-package  is  supplied  as  is.   The  author  disclaims  all
  36.    warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,  the
  37.    warranties of merchantability  and of fitness  for any purpose.   The
  38.    author assumes  no liability  for damages,  direct or  consequential,
  39.    which may result from the use of the MTA-package;
  40.  
  41.  - The  MTA-package  is  a  "shareware  program"  and is provided at  no
  42.    charge to the user for evaluation.   Feel free to share it with  your
  43.    friends,  but  please  do  not  give  it  away  altered or as part of
  44.    another  system.   The  essence  of  "user-supported"  software is to
  45.    provide personal  computer users  with quality  software without high
  46.    prices, and yet to provide  incentive for programmers to continue  to
  47.    develop new products.

  49.  - If  you find  this program  useful and  find that  you are  using and
  50.    continue the  use of  the MTA-package  after a  30 days trial period,
  51.    you must register the MTA-package as described below;

  53.  - Non-commercial can get a license for the usage up to this release  of
  54.    the MTA-package for  a small amount  of money. Look  into the details
  55.    in  REGISTER.MTA.  Previous  registered  users  will  receive  a  big
  56.    reduction to upgrade to the  newer versions. These users should  look
  57.    into the details in UPGRADE.MTA.   For Non-commercial users there  is
  58.    a POSSIBILITY to submit to one of the special contracts as  explained
  59.    in the file REGISTER.MTA.

  61.  - Commercial usage of  MTA will cost somewhat  more. Also, a so  called
  62.    'closed' Bulletin  Board System  (a system  where the  user must  pay
  63.    direct to the  SysOp to get  full access) is  has to pay  more than a
  64.    Non-commercial  user.  Both  types  of  users  should  look  into the
  65.    details in REGISTER.MTA;
  66.  
  67.  - The registration of the MTA-package will license ONE copy for use  on
  68.    any computer at any  one time, as long  as the usage confirms  to the
  69.    type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when  you
  70.    have a non-commercial license);
  71.  
  72.  - Anyone  distributing  the  MTA-package  for any kind of remuneration
  73.    must  first   contact  the   Author   at   the  address   above   for
  74.    authorization.
  75.  
  76.  - You are  encouraged  to  pass a copy   of the MTA-package  along   to
  77.    your friends  for  evaluation.   Please  encourage  them to  register
  78.    their copy if they find that they can use it;

  80.  - Support  on  MTA,  when  used  in  a  non-commercial environment,  is
  81.    available  by  means  of  written  letters  or by entering the inter-
  82.    national echomail area DISP;

  84.  - Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm>  Echomail
  85.    conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo  does
  86.    not  exclude  you  of  the  duty  to register the MTA-package, though
  87.    users who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;

  89.  - The  MTA-package, all  programs, the  documentation and support-files
  90.    is  copyrighted  1990,94  by  Robert  W.  van  Hoeven,  PO.  Box 131,
  91.    Badhoevedorp 1170AC, Holland. All  rights are reserved. You  may copy
  92.    this  package  for  backup  purposes.  Also  you  may  copy and share
  93.    unmodified copies of the whole package, providing that the  copyright
  94.    notice    is    reproduced    and    included    on    all    copies.
  95.    Excluded from this statement  are the support-files written  by other
  96.    authors.  Please  refer  to  the  documentation of these programs for
  97.    copyrights and license agreements;

  99.  - It  is  forbidden  to  modify,  adapt,  translate, reverse  engineer,
  100.    decompile  and/or  disassemble  the  software  in  the   MTA-package.
  101.    Patching the medium at  places that carry the  software is seen as  a
  102.    program change and is also forbidden. It is forbidden to create a  so
  103.    called 'bypass' to skip the original introduction screens and  delay.
  104.    Also it is forbidden  to use such a  'bypass' unless supplied by  the
  105.    author (Robert W. van Hoeven) himself;

  107.  - Performing  any  of  the  illegal  actions as stated in the previous
  108.    lines,  is  a  theft  and  no  fair  play  to  the  author  and, more
  109.    important, to the registered users;

  111.  - Bulletin Board  Systems that distribute  the MTA package  can convert
  112.    the WHOLE package  to any archive-system  they like but  all original
  113.    files must  be included  in the  new archive.  The MTA-package on the
  114.    Bulletin Board  can contain  at the  most 2  extra files. These files
  115.    can only be  a commercial for  that Bulletin Board  and/or validation
  116.    data that is presented  as a service to  all users and shall  have no
  117.    other functions;

  119.  - After  the normal  trial period  of 30  days, you  must register  the
  120.    soft- ware (see REGISTER.MTA) or you must remove it from your PC;

  136.  There are several  ways to register  the usage of  the MTA-package. All
  137.  is depending on the environment where MTA will be running.

  141.  NON-Commercial registration
  142.  ────────────────────────────────────

  144.  When you use MTA in  a non-commercial environment, the registration  is
  145.  simple and rather cheap  if you consider all  the time I have  put into
  146.  this  product.   As  NON-commercial   user,   you   must  pay   for   a
  147.  Non-commercial license.  Payment of the registration fee, entitles  you
  148.  to:
  149.  
  150.  - The  license  for  running  ONE   copy  of  the  MTA-package  in    a
  151.    NON-commercial environment on any computer at any one time;
  152.  
  153.  - A  diskette with  the latest  copy of  the MTA-package  on 3 1/2 inch
  154.    diskette (720 Kb) and on  request on any other format  (1.4Mb, 360Kb,
  155.    1.2Mb for the same price);
  156.  
  157.  -  A  special  file  to  enter  the  name of the owner (company) in the
  158.    header of  MTA. This  file can  be used  on subsequent releases, also
  159.    those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
  160.  
  161.  - The license  for NON-commercial usage  can not be  used in any  other
  162.    environment than the NON-commercial environment itself. Upgrading  to
  163.    a commercial license or to a license for a closed BBS can be done  by
  164.    paying the difference  in price between  the current license  and the
  165.    new license;

  167.  The price  for a  NON-commercial license  is US  $ 25,-- (including any
  168.  HIGH DENSITY 5 1/4 or 3 1/2 inch format diskette). You  should  add the
  169.  amount of US $ 5,-- for LOW DENSITY formats (extra  diskette  and extra
  170.  mail)

  174.  Commercial registration

  177.  When you use MTA in a commercial  environment or when you use MTA on  a
  178.  so called 'closed' BBS (this is a  BBS where the users must pay to  the
  179.  Sysop to  get full  access), you  must pay  for a  license to  use MTA.
  180.  Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:

  182.  - The license for running ONE  copy of the MTA-package in a  commercial
  183.    environment on any computer at any one time;
  184.  
  185.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the MTA-package on 5 1/4 or 3  1/2
  186.    inch diskette (360/720 Kb);

  194.    mercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;

  196.  The  price  for  a  commercial  license  is  US  $  90,--  for a normal
  197.  commercial user or US $ 35,-- for a 'closed' BBS.

  201.  Update service

  204.  Both  commercial  AND  non-commercial  users  can enter the update ser-
  205.  vice.  International  users  who  use  MTA commercial or non-commercial
  206.  will benefit most of this  feature. Paying the fee for  update service,
  207.  entitles you to:
  208.  
  209.  - Receiving every new release (minor  AND major) for the period of  one
  210.    year or  10 releases  (which ever  comes first)  on diskette media by
  211.    first-class Airmail;
  212.  
  213.  - The updates will  be send the same  day the new release  is submitted
  214.    to the support BBS (2:281/904 in Holland);
  215.  
  216.  - The  diskettes are  first-class (no  no-name or  white diskettes) and
  217.    will contain a special diskette label;
  218.  
  219.  The update service  will  cost  US $ 35,--  for HIGH DENSITY (3 1/2" or
  220.  5 1/4") or  US $ 45,--  for LOW DENSITY  (3 1/2" or 5 1/4")  which will
  221.  be twice as much diskettes as a result of the format !

  225.  Utility diskette(s)

  228.  For all types of registered users,  there is a possibility to obtain  a
  229.  so  called  utility  diskette.  These  diskettes  contain  the   latest
  230.  SHAREWARE versions of the archiver- and GIF-alike programs that can  be
  231.  used with MTA and that are allowed to distribute at cost price.

  233.  The remaining space will be  filled with SHAREWARE versions of  some of
  234.  the DISP utilities (latest versions).
  235.  
  236.  The update diskette(s) will be  supplied at cost-price and can  only be
  237.  ordered in combination  with a registration  for MTA. You  will receive
  238.  around 1.2 Mb of data on the format that you mark on the order form.

  242.  Paying
  243.  ────────────────────────────────────

  245.  - By postal  money order or  international money order.  Normal cheques
  246.    (if they are not EuroCheques)  will cost me extra money  to transfer,
  247.    so add  US $  10,-- for  transfer if  you use  such a cheque. Cheques
  248.    that can not be collected  within a reasonable time, are  returned to
  249.    the sender;

  255.  - Giro-cheques (only dutch) written out to the name above;

  257.  - Sending money directly, but please  make sure you send it with   some
  258.    kind of safety, so  you can make sure  yourself that I received   the
  259.    money. When  you send  money, you  can also  send money  in your  own
  260.    currency, but make sure  to use a valid  exchange rate. This is   the
  261.    exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;

  263.  In NO  way I  can accept  credit-card transfers.  If you  are not sure,
  264.  please contact me by normal mail !

  266.  Dutch users can also pay in  dutch money. Transfer the amount of  dutch
  267.  money in one  of the above  ways. Use the  exchange rate on  the day of
  268.  transfer as found in the newspaper of that day).
